In EUS, a traditional fiberoptic endoscope is fitted with a miniature sonographic transducer, allowing penetration that provides extraordinarily precise sonograms, and is now also able to biopsy mass lesions. It is particularly efficient in screening for gynecologic and for gastrointestinal diseases.
