Abstract:	Genetics continues to reveal more about the contribution of individual familial inheritence to disease and other medical conditions. Medical students require fundamental understanding of the science of genetics, and a knowledge of the core clinical conditions that have genetic causation.The 2nd edition introduces the basic chemistry of the genetic code before taking students on a tour of the tools used for biomolecular anaylsis. The science of genetics is then introduced before a final chapter 'Molecular Medicine in Practice' introduces the diseases and other clinical conditions.For this new 3rd edition, we propose refocusing the text on the knowledge students require of medical genetics. This leads to a retitling and repositioning of the book.
