Abstract: Advanced practice providers (APPs), consisting of advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) and physician assistants (PAs), are high-demand healthcare professionals. Hospitals, clinics, and healthcare organizations are integrating these roles in their clinical operations and seek resources relating to operationalizing APPs into practice. We found a need within the profession for APP organizational practices across all disciplines, from finance to human resources to compliance, to support assimilating the uniqueness of the APP group into existing infrastructures. This book provides examples of documents and practices that can be tailored to meet an organization's specific challenges to support the efficiency, operations, and integration of the APP role. This book adds to the literature and can guide organizations-whether academic, hospital, or clinic-based-and academic programs teaching APRNs and PAs to be leaders in healthcare where there is a need for expertise across disciplines. The book includes top-of-license practice examples that optimize APP productivity, support collaboration, focus on team-based care, and support models of independent practice. Providing APP expertise at all levels by effectively using resources within organizations will help progress healthcare toward quality patient safety goals and team care initiatives.
